The Rebellion Has Begun

Hey all, your friendly neighborhood Tsuki / Zephyr here.

Though my RP "The Dawn of Rebellion" is well underway, we are about to reach a story arc where new characters will be released and introduced, and with the sudden disappearance of a few of our players, our roster is looking a bit... barren. So, if you're interested in joining, drop in to the OOC and drop us a line!

What is the RP about? Well, I'm glad that you mentally asked, and that I perceived your interest!

The year is 2140 A.D. The earth is now completely overpopulated, and more than half of the population of the planet live in poverty and squalor. Our technology has progressed by leaps and bounds, but still we could not find suitable means to sustain our dying race. The governments of the globe have now become obsessed, corrupt with power and the desire for it. So much so, that large bundles of funding have been spent to create underground facilities, bent on creating the perfect soldier.

Evolution is a wondrous process, its limits knowing nigh no bounds. The Government of the United States of America has, for the past eighty years, researched methods in which to hasten its process. None of their factions had shown any success, until three years ago. One faction, known as Genesis, bore fortuitous results, and created the first psychic weapon.

Random individuals had been mysteriously disappearing from across the globe since the beginning of the government's quest, but in the past three years, the numbers have increased hundredfold. Genesis has experimented on over fifty-million individuals, with just over ten-million providing results, and only five-hundred-thousand surviving the excruciating experimentation taking place afterwards. But in a world so grossly overpopulated, who would notice a mere fraction of its people disappearing?

Most of the successful "products" created by the Genesis process awaken with no memory or sense of sentience, their prefrontal cortexes damaged in the process, existing solely as test subjects and as weapons. But a small fraction awaken, personalities in tact, but still with no memory. They are often disposed of swiftly if they do not comply to Genesis' wishes, but few, using the unique powers granted to them unwittingly manage to escape. Those who do often flee unconsciously to the nearest city, where they are lost and forgotten about. Well, by the government anyways.

Three of the first individuals to escape the Genesis program alive and conscious managed to escape and form a "mutant" alliance known as the Armada, located in New York City. Their numbers grew slowly, but surely, as more and more of these forgotten individuals managed to escape the clutches of their possessive captors. At first, Armada existed solely to provide support for recent escapees, and find ways to re-integrate them safely into the Earth's dying society. But as it grew, so did their anger, and dreams of vengeance which once seemed so distant were now within their grasp.

The Director of Genesis didn't think that these escaped mutants could possibly pose a threat to them, figuring that most of the escaped mutants would perish, alone and afraid, and without any means of sustaining themselves. He had never conceived that they would band together in the way they had, nor in the numbers. When word of Armada's existence reached Genesis through the most improbable of means, the mutants were flushed from hiding, existing sporadically across the city. All smaller factions of Armada that existed across the globe were quickly dispersed as well to lessen their chances of rediscovery. But with no concrete base to call their own, and their means of communication greatly diminished, they were faced with few options, their most favourable option being a full-on assault of the main Genesis facility. The time has come, and the dawn of rebellion is nigh...
