It?s not often that instead of glorifying game modes, character roster sizes or the latest in sweat-dripping software technology, a publisher instead focuses on promoting the way a game brings together the gaming community. Well, that?s exactly what Sega did for their Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown trailer for E3.
It?s really hard not to like the following trailer because there?s this deep-rooted sense of gaming culture implanted at the base of the video. It?s not just that it?s about the latest and greatest entry into a highly celebrated fighting game, it?s about the joys, pains, friends, enemies, frustrations and moments of glee you experience when playing a truly enthralling video game, and that speaks a lot more for the quality and depth of Virtua Fighter 5 than any fact sheet could hope to do.
Even though the trailer does little or nothing to showcase the actual features of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, which is due out soon for digital download on the Xbox 360 and PS3, that?s what we?re here for.
The game takes on a similar approach to Capcom when it comes to DLC?in such terms, there?s a lot of it. However, the difference is that Sega is knocked off the initial price of entry so you?re only paying $14.99 or 1200 MS Points to get the initial game, with optional accessories, costumes and characters available in DLC packs to extend the game to your liking. While I understand it?s not going to be to everyone?s liking, it?s definitely a lot more transparent and honest than disc-locking the content.
You can look for Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown to be showcased more in-depth at this year?s E3 or you can pick up the digital copy when it goes live on June 5th.
